Film commentary: Memory Sprint
A beautiful short film about the voluntary search for memory, the reconstruction and reinvention of the past.Questioning the film: Memory Sprint
Understand the story, the theme, express your sensibility and exercise your critical mind."Memory, like books that remain locked in the dust for a long time, needs to be unrolled from time to time. It is necessary, so to speak, to shake out all the leaves, in order to find them in order when needed."
Fragments, Seneca (4 BC-65 AD))
1 Who is the main character in the film and where is she?
She is an old lady who is in her house and perhaps even in her attic as we can see the exposed beams of the house frame.
2 At the beginning of the film, the lady picks up a game called "Memory sprint, a fast game to remember", what does she do next?
She goes out of her house, starts to run and begins to transform herself
3 What indicates that we are dealing with the same person who is getting younger?
The clothes do not change; the morphological changes are consistent with the rejuvenation (the person first becomes a little taller and thinner, because she is now an adult, and therefore not "compacted" by age; then she becomes a child again.
4 When the little girl has finished her run, where does she return to, and how do we understand this?
She returns home. She puts on her grandmother's shoes and goes into the attic to join her brothers perhaps?
5 At this point she becomes the old person from the beginning again. Why?
Because it was a fleeting thought; we imagine that her presence in the attic of the house has brought back all her childhood memories.(A film to be compared with the film "Waves" which deals with a similar theme)
