Film commentary: Es wird Regen geben
A very funny idea, Noah did not accept everyone on his ark, it took two!Like the Chuck Jones cartoons, the film uses repetition comedy and the main character desperately tries to reach his goals without ever succeeding.
Why not list with the children the different attempts of our adorable hero to enter Noah's ark but also all the animal species in the film? This is a good opportunity to review the names of the animals, the male, the female and their young. A horse and a mare will make a foal, a lion and a lioness, a lion cub, a camel and a she-camel, a colt, a bear and a bearess, a cub...
Information on Noah's Ark
Noah's Ark, according to the Bible and the Koran, is a ship built to save Noah, his family and a male and female pair of all animal species from the flood. This story may have originated from a major flood in the Black Sea basin more than 7000 years ago, due to a breach in the natural dike formed by the Bosphorus Strait that connects the Black Sea, previously a lake, to the Sea of Marmara in present-day Istanbul, Turkey. Another hypothesis for the origin of this myth is the extraordinary floods between the Tigris and the Euphrates, the two great rivers of Mesopotamia.
Early traces of a rapid rise in water levels are found in Mesopotamian legends, but stories of floods and the survival of a chosen few are present in many mythologies.
The story of the flood also exists in India: Manu built his ark and saved his family and a large number of animals.
In Greek mythology, Deucalion and his wife, Pyrrha, took refuge in a small boat and were the only survivors of the flood decided by Zeus. Poseidon submerges the earth and only Mount Parnassus rises above the water.
This could be an opportunity to look at the origin of myths, marvellous stories passed down from generation to generation by oral tradition to explain natural phenomena that human societies cannot understand.
