On the initiative of the French School of Florence, the association « Films pour enfants » created an online festival in the context of the 2020 lockdown to allow children to stay in contact with their teachers, but also to connect with other children and discover cultural diversity around universal values and messages such as humanism, ecology and poetry.

Takorama 2021 International Children's Film Festival
Many festivals are dedicated to children — feature film or short film festivals, animation film festivals, competitive or non-competitive.

Some like Chicago or New York have more than 30,000 spectators per year; others are much smaller with just a few hundred spectators, but all share the same vocation: to showcase quality films.
Discover and share new masterpieces
Afin de nous tenir à l'écoute des festivals internationaux de films pour enfants, nous avons créé a database of children's film festivals et une list of children's film festivals in France.
The festival's objective is to offer children from around the world free access to auteur animated short films in an educational context.
The short films are accompanied by activities to allow for educational extensions.
The festival also has the underlying objective of affirming the educational dimension of cinema by positioning it alongside literature and painting as a resource capable of supporting and reinforcing all subjects (visual arts, French, civic education, mathematics...). The festival will also allow children to develop critical thinking and to consider animated images, beyond entertainment, as a communication tool.
The festival, very simple in form, offers an introduction to media literacy for all childhood professionals who can then extend this experience through various initiatives such as .École et cinéma.
The festival for teachers and their students is entirely free and without advertising.
The festival runs from March to June to give teachers sufficient time to offer students the associated educational activities.
Each teacher registers their class and offers their students educational activities following the screening of the films. In a positive dimension, each child votes for their favourite film, gives their opinion and shares with others.
Students discover the films at home and participate in educational activities at school. The festival enables family exchanges and classroom activities based on an engaging medium. A selection committee, made up of representatives from the partners and filmmakers, selects the short films.
The festival is also open to other educational, cultural and social institutions such as libraries and hospitals; parents can also register their children directly.
A selection committee, made up of representatives from the partners, selects the festival's films.
A pedagogical team, made up of teachers and cinema professionals, creates the educational activities.
Each child, after watching the films and participating in the educational activities, votes for their favourite film.
